Public Information Resource Centers are centers that provide information services to students and the public for research on various topics, especially information related to the United States. The purpose of establishing this center is to send various information related to American studies, education, politics, culture, society, and democratic governance to the general public. To date, there are more than 700 American Public Information Resource Centers around the world, and more than 16 million people have used the services of these centers. In particular, in Cambodia, there are four American Public Information Resource Centers located at Pannasastra University in Phnom Penh, University of Management and Economics in Battambang Province, University of Management and Economics in Kampong Cham Province, and International University in Siem Reap Province. In the past, the center has played an important role in providing knowledge and information specifically related to the United States to the public through reading books, participating in seminars, studying in clubs ( English clubs and reading clubs ), knowledge competitions, and debates. More importantly, it has created a good learning and cultural exchange environment for the public, especially for students studying at UME, who have a lot of time to study, research, and develop their knowledge.

The main purpose of the US Public Information Resource Center is to promote democratic principles and human rights, such as freedom of information, debate, and access to documents. It contributes to providing information about the United States and promoting information relations between the United States and other countries, especially Cambodia.
